Mark Carney, all the Prime jobs
Governor of the Bank of Canada. Governor of the Bank of England. On the board at Bloomberg. United Nations Special Envoy for climate action and finance. And now Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and soon to be Prime Minister of Canada. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Mark Carney.

What a career huh? And then I see his age, just a few years older than myself. But that’s ok. For one afternoon a little while back we were both at work, both in the same city, both in the same room, both looking at different sides of the same camera.
I was asked by a newspaper client, I think it was, I’ve kinda forgotten who commissioned me for this, to go along to a community event where Mark Carney was appearing, giving guidance to community leaders.
I love the fact that everybody comes to Glasgow at some point. I’ve laughed with a fellow press photographer here about we just wait and they all come to us at some point. Glasgow still has pull.
It was an interesting event, I remember talking with a gentlaman who was sketching the event on an iPad. If my memory serves me correctly he was an artist for the Bank of England. Interesting.
As the event was winding up I knew that Mark Carney was going to be taking some questions from journalists in a small side room, So I got into the room. Waited. Let the journalist do their questions, then grabbed a few seconds with Mr. Carney for a little portrait. Always got to take your opportunities when you get them. I’m not sure when Mark Carney will be back in Glasgow, he’s got a new job, new neighbours for his country to deal with. Good luck.
